GMES Warrior Update

Jan 22, 2026

Hello GMES Families!

GMES School

As January comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the exciting start to 2026 here at GMES. This month has been filled with opportunities for learning, growth, and connection. From snowy art projects to exploring new concepts in our classrooms, the creativity and enthusiasm of our students have been truly inspiring.

Thank you for your continued support in making GMES a wonderful place for learning and community.

Here’s to a fantastic start to the new year!

Principal Message

Dear GMES Families,

Thank you all for your support of our mid-year testing during the month of January. It provides our students a chance to experience the tools and stamina they need to use during testing in May. Also, it provides our staff a chance to see what the students know and can do with enough time to adjust their instruction.

Sincerely,

Dan Aragon

This week we will be continuing adding to our list of possible questions to ask your kids about what they did at school.

26.How did someone fill your bucket today? Whose bucket did you fill?

27.Did you like your lunch?

28.Rate your day on a scale of 1-10

29. Did you have a snack today? What was it?

30. How were you brave today?

31. What questions did you ask today?

32. ell us your top two things from the day( before being excused from table, before watching TV etc)

33. What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

34.What are you reading?

35.What was the hardest rule to follow today?

36.Teach me something I don’t know

37.If you could change one thing about your day what would it be?

38. Is there anything on your mind you would like to talk abut?

39. How did you share today?

40.What made your teacher smile? What made her/him frown?

41. What kind of person were you today?

42.What made you feel happy?

43.What made you feel proud?

44.What made you feel cared for?

45.Did you learn any new words today?

46.What do you hope to do before school is out for the year?

47.If you could switch seats with anyone in class, who would it be? And why?

48 What is your favorite specialist? Why?

49.If you switched places with your teacher tomorrow, what would you teach the class?

What kind thing can you do tomorrow?

Hopefully this will give you a good place to start. The follow up questions are just as important if not more important. Remember, open ended questions ( those that require more than a yes or no answer) and a supportive response will get you much further. Kids make mistakes so instead of - “You know better than that” a simple “How could you have handled that differently?” will encourage kids to share more.
