As we move into the final stretch of the school year, May brings a sense of excitement, growth, and celebration to Grand Mound Elementary. Our students have been working hard all year, and it’s wonderful to see their progress both in and out of the classroom. From engaging lessons to upcoming end-of-year activities, this is a special time for our school community.
In this newsletter, you’ll find important updates, event information, and highlights of the great things happening around campus. We encourage you to stay involved, support your students, and join us in celebrating their achievements as we head toward summer.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Grand Mound Elementary family!

Dear GMES Families,
As we approach the end of the school year, testing is in full swing! Teachers have done their best to make sure students learn as much as they can and students are "Doing their Best on the Test!" Thank you for supporting them during testing!
Please provide me with any feedback you have about how the year has been for you and your family! Feel free to email me at daragon@rochester.wednet.edu.
Sincerely,
Dan Aragon

Summer is almost here, and we are all excited for sunshine, swimming, bike rides, sleepovers, and more time with friends and family! As kids head into summer break, it’s a great time to review a few important safety reminders.
Please encourage children to:
Wear helmets when riding bikes, scooters, skateboards, or ATVs.
Stay with a trusted adult or ask permission before going somewhere new.
Use sunscreen, drink plenty of water, and take breaks in the shade on hot days.
Practice water safety by swimming with an adult nearby and following pool or lake rules.
Be careful online by not sharing personal information or chatting with strangers in games or apps.
Trust their instincts and tell a trusted adult if something feels unsafe or uncomfortable.
Summer is also a great time to practice kindness, responsibility, and good decision-making. We hope all of our students have a fun, relaxing, and safe summer break filled with adventures, laughter, and happy memories!

As the school year is winding down, now is a great time to start thinking ahead about your child’s health needs for next year. Scheduling annual physicals and staying up to date on immunizations can help ensure a smooth and confident start to the new school year. We encourage families to book appointments early, as well-child visits often fill quickly and may be scheduled weeks or months in advance.
Please remember that if your student has a medical condition such as asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, or seizures, or requires any daily or as-needed medication, updated doctor’s orders and signed authorization forms are required for medications to be administered at school. These forms need to be renewed each school year. Planning ahead over the summer can help ensure a smooth and safe start to the school year.
If you have questions about immunizations or required forms, please feel free to reach out to the health room. We are more than happy to assist you.
Nurse Andrea

Please be patient in the drop-off/pick-up area, sometimes it goes slow. Zippering in line and being kind makes things go so much quicker.
