As we close first semester and begin second semester, it may feel like we are just getting started — yet we already have our eyes on the horizon. At Rochester High School, planning for the future is happening now.

If you were able to attend our Parent Night on February 9, you heard that students are currently selecting courses for next year. Yes, next year! This is an exciting time filled with opportunity and possibility. We encourage you to take time to talk with your student about their plans after graduation and which classes will help move them toward those goals. Whether they are considering college, a trade, military service, or entering the workforce, thoughtful course selection matters. If you are unsure how to begin that conversation, our counseling team is ready and eager to help guide you.

Many of our students are also exploring post-secondary opportunities and ways to get a head start on college. RHS students are incredibly fortunate to have access to College in the High School courses right here on our campus. These courses allow students to earn both high school credit and college credit simultaneously. In fact, students have the opportunity to earn more than 80 college credits while attending RHS. For those who take full advantage of this opportunity, they could enter college approaching junior standing — an incredible achievement that saves both time and tuition costs.

Another significant benefit of participating in College in the High School at RHS is that families remain closely connected to their student’s education. Parents can monitor grades, review attendance, and communicate directly with teachers. Unlike off-campus programs, students remain in a secure, structured environment designed to support their success — and you always know where they are. We are proud to offer this outstanding opportunity to our students and encourage families to explore it.

On another note, Dr. Bethman, our superintendent, will be leaving the district at the end of June. The district is seeking community input as part of the search process for our next superintendent. I encourage you to visit our school or district website to complete the survey and share what qualities and skills matter most to you. Your voice plays an important role in shaping the future of education in Rochester.

Finally, please mark your calendars:

* Spring sports practices begin March 2

* Spring Conferences will take place March 30 – April 3

* Spring Break will follow conferences

As always, thank you for your partnership and support. When families and schools work together with a shared vision for the future, our students thrive. We look forward to a strong and successful second semester ahead.

WARRIOR PRIDE… Grounded in our common beliefs, the following core values shape our school: Warriors are POSITIVE. Warriors are RESPECTFUL. Warriors have INTEGRITY. Warriors are DETERMINED. Warriors are ENGAGED.

See you soon! Once a Warrior. Always a WARRIOR!
